On the Court

Rick Barnes is one of the winningest coaches in college basketball history. He took the University of Texas to the NCAA tournament in 16 of his 17 seasons as head coach, and at the University of Tennessee, he has set records for single-season wins and longest winning streak in school history. He was the 2018 SEC Coach of the Year, the 2019 Naismith College Coach of the Year, and has over 700 career wins.

Off the Court

Barnes has two children with his wife Candy. His son is a missionary in the Middle East, and his daughter Carley lives in Texas. He accepted Christ through the evangelism ministry of Billy Graham, and after a season away from the faith, his kids sat him down and encouraged him to recommit his life to Jesus. Since then, he has been faithfully coaching and leading his family in accordance with his Christian faith.
